Claes Oldenburg
During the year, in Art&Crafts the students have been learning about different artists from the 1960s, focusing mainly on Pop Art.
We have studied the work of artists such as Duchamp, Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
The last artist we studied is the sculptor Claes Oldenburg, a pop artist known for his giant, soft sculptures of everyday things, most especially food.
Claes Oldenburg thought that American food and other consumer items had a special beauty due to their bright colours, unbelievable shapes and magical appearance.
Here we present a reinterpretation of Claes Oldenburg's sculptures made by our 3rd to 6th grade Primary Students.
